Best Children's Books
I know, as the author, I am not supposed to classify my kids picture books, The "Adventures of Anna" kids book series as the best in children's books but I can strive for this goal and I do.
The Anna series is an educational adventure series of books for toddlers that first takes Anna and her parents on a trip to the Zoo. The books are informative and interesting books for kids but that parents will enjoy as well. There are many beautiful, engaging and appealing pictures intermingled with the text in a very non-traditional and intriguing format that immediately catches the reader's attention.
The story is further highlighted with exciting, little-known facts about animals that you would not necessarily learn at a real trip to the zoo. For instance, the word giraffe means camel plus leopard (a big tall camel with spots), that camels eat fish, and that zebra's stripes are like fingerprints (none are alike).

This book is great fun and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it! It depicts the life of little, loveable, imaginative Anna, who goes on a trip to the zoo with her parents. While at the zoo she encounters many animals that are new to her and learns quite a bit about them. By the end of the book Anna has gathered a multitude of interesting animal facts and is an "expert" on giraffes, elephants, orangutans, camels and zebras! This is a great little book and I would highly recommend it both to you and your toddler. I'm confident that you'll both learn a lot! (I know I'm a much smarter zoologist after reading this 36 paged book!)

The Adventures of Anna At the Zoo! An Educational Adventure Series for 2 to 4yearolds DL Bentley 9781484124307 Books Reviews
This is a nice book for parents of little kids, to read for their children and teach them about zoo animals. I think this book is little too long for one time reading since a young child may get tired quickly (but maybe I'm wrong); anyway you may read it in two sittings if that happen. As for me, the small images are too small especially if using a smaller reader.
But in general, you may learn a lot about zoo animals from this book.
Plenty of information and plenty of real pictures can be found in this children's book about a trip to the zoo. Cleverly written, the little girl Anna asks questions about the animals and her parents provide the answers.
If you have a toddler who loves animals, this would be a great bedtime story book. It has pages and chapters and the pictures are cleverly inserted between the text.
The pluses My favorite part of this book is the tremendous quantity of photos. They aren't just of the zoo animals, but instead connect the ideas being discussed with other things that are familiar to young children a discussion of elephant ear's includes photos of elephants, but also photos of fans and elephant ear plants. These connections and the easy to understand explanations make the new information being presented easy to understand.
The minuses It's very long. It's essentially a light-weight chapter book. It would be hard to read in one sitting unless you have very patient kids and a lot of time on your hands. For young kids (2-4), I would probably just read part of it at a time or mostly focus on the pictures and just summarize the text instead of reading it word for word.
I loved the story of Anna and her parents at the zoo. The way the pictures were intermingled with the text was very appealing. The pictures were extremely well done and fit the story very well. I can't believe how much I learned from a children's book - who knew the word giraffe came from camel and leopard? I laughed right out loud at the picture of the toilet paper! And who knew camels will each fish? I can't wait for the next book.
This is a unique and delightful picture book that will engaged youngsters.
The images are perfect for young listeners who are visual learners. Reading the story and
looking at the pictures gives your little reader the opportunity to enjoy Anna's
adventures and learn about the animals as well in a very entertaining manner.
I suggest reading this story before visiting a zoo.
In fact, take the book along and play a game to see if your little one can name the animals.
Great read and educational as well!
The author has gone all out and produced truly educational, fun, spirited content. Going beyond the usual name the animal and give a few facts, given are a myriad of illustrations placed right in the copy that children will adore. And we have maps... and lunch breaks, and potty breaks... which gives a young child a realistic picture of what their day at the zoo will be like...definitely an adventure. Highly creative, very original, and highly recommended. Oh, and did I mention the links to additional information and videos and cams? As I said, the author went all out! Well done.
I like the way this book for preschoolers is laid out. Pictures are included as part of the story (right in the sentences) so young children can learn how to connect words (that their parents are reading to them) with a picture they will probably recognize. Well done!
Lots of colorful photos should keep your child's attention and zoos are always a big hit. Anna, the main character in these adventures, is learning right along with your own preschooler, which can help reinforce a child's confidence in learning the material (in other words, if a child their own age can do it they will believe they can, too - this is an important point that is often missed in teaching, regardless of age).
The only thing I would nitpick is throwing evolution into the mix when referring to the Orangutan being a close relative to humans. I know I have some strange relatives, but I've never come across one that I would mistake for an Orangutan (or any other ape, for that matter). ;-)
